Born in Edinburgh in 1981, Katy has had a number of jobs. Some of them have involved writing, and some of them have not.

She has spent time watching people swimming and blown a whistle to tell them when they were doing something stupid. She has toured the UK as a taiko drummer. She has sat in a bank and counted millions of pounds using a machine that always jammed on fivers. She has helped to organise a festival that celebrates filmmaking talent across Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and Brittany. It mostly involved spelling long names correctly and being polite.

And she has written. For newspapers, magazines, and often, simply for fun. She has five years experience as a journalist, editor and most recently, as a copywriter. She also has a Masters in creative writing from the University of Glasgow.

Today Katy lives and writes in Glasgow. She has recently completed a novel about the disappearance of a famous American faith healer during the twenties. Her new work-in-progress is a contemporary tale of Glasgow's most responsible resident, Eleanor Flood, whose orderly life is disturbed when she begins to find gifts on her doorstep each morning from an unknown sender.
